Wheat noodles that originated in Chinese cuisine and have become very popular in Japan. Ramen noodles have a characteristic chewy texture and yellowy color, and are based on wheat flour with added minerals with basic acidity which give them their characteristic texture and yellowy color (despite their yellow color, ramen noodles do not contain eggs). Ramen noodles are the main ingredient of ramen soup, one of Japan’s most popular street foods which has grown in recent years to become extremely popular in the US and in the rest of the world. Ramen noodles are suitable for use in stock, but can also be cooked in water and then stir-fried in a wok with additional vegetables and meat of seafood.
